Mock Elections

With the general election approaching, the Year 12 politics students were given the opportunity to organise a mock election. This included tasks such as creating and delivering campaign presentations and speeches to each year group laying each political party's policies and aims.

This allowed politics students the chance to demonstrate the things we’ve learnt this academic year and put into practice the different forms of campaigning, pitching and debating. Giving us the experience of understanding the steps that go into a political election really helped bring our subject to life.

Not only did this mock election benefit politics students, it brought together all pupils all throughout year seven to ten by allowing them to learn more about the parties that they may have heard of as well as minority parties, such as the Liberal Democrats and the Green Party, that aren't as well known. This opportunity sparked mass political interest and knowledge amongst the younger years, with over 500 votes across the school, and allowed them to get a first-hand experience of debating party policies and manifestos as well as voting in an election.
