Highbury Fields Sixth Form
An introduction to the Sixth Form at Highbury Fields School
At our dedicated and specialist Sixth Form Centre, Highbury Fields Sixth Form is a community in which students thrive and progress to a range of exceptional higher education destinations. The vast majority of our students go on to study at prestigious Russell Group universities and have access to top apprenticeships. Students are well-equipped for their transition to further education as the Sixth Form balances dedicated subject-specialist teaching and academic guidance with opportunities to become increasingly independent.
A firm commitment to academic excellence is a core part of our success, but the Sixth Form is also strengthened by a strong sense of togetherness and community. We understand the importance of creating a learning environment in which students feel supported and safe whilst enjoying their time in the Sixth Form. A key tenet of Highbury Fields Sixth Form is developing strong relationships between staff and students, which is built around a pastoral curriculum and staff team that ensures every student is known in a truly supportive environment. This underpins our approach to success as we strive to enable our students to confidently take on the challenges and opportunities of adult life. Sixth Formers really are the pinnacle of our whole student body and the Senior Student Leaders are fantastic role models within the school and wider community. Our ambition is for our students to have ownership and a voice within the Sixth Form to lead and create experiences which will enable all students to become the most successful version of themselves.
Our Sixth Form is relatively small in size which affords the opportunity for a tailored Sixth Form experience. As such, our ambition for our students can be broad in scope as we are able to offer bespoke support for all students to meet their ambitions. We believe that the Sixth Form experience should foster a curiosity in the wider world, something that is fundamental within our Future Success Programme and wider curricular offer. Through this key strand of the curriculum, students have the opportunity to meet with a range of guest speakers, develop employability skills and explore topical issues which broaden their horizons. We hope that providing our students with a breadth of experiences and opportunities will create lasting positive memories and contribute to a community where success is recognised in multifaceted ways.
